Hi First Graders and Families! I am so excited to join the ASFS community.  I previously taught 2nd Grade in Loudoun County for 4 years.  This is my first year teaching 1st Grade and I am so excited!  I am from Falls Church City and received my Bachelors and Masters degrees from James Madison University.  Go Dukes! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, especially at the beach, and cheering on DC sports.

Ms. Hoyer

Hello! My name is Shannel Hoyer. I began teaching at APS in 2014 after moving to Arlington, VA from North Carolina; where I taught for 7 years. Prior to teaching in NC I stayed home with my son for 11 years. I had taught for 6 years in Missouri, the state which I grew up in. (Go KC Chiefs!) I am a National Board certified teacher. When I’m not teaching, you will often see me walking around the DC area. I enjoy spending time with family, exercising, reading, and traveling. I hope to inspire my students to believe in themselves and to follow their dreams.
