ASFS Counseling Program
The school counseling program of Arlington Science Focus School is an integral part of the school program. The purpose of the counseling program is to enhance the academic, personal/social, and career development of all students. The program assists students in acquiring the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to engage in lifelong learning, to become aware of life/career choices, and to prepare for the world of work.
Ms. Proietti and Ms. Uffelman work cooperatively with students, staff, families, and community agencies. Responsive services are delivered through a variety of models, including individual and group counseling, consultation, crisis counseling, and referral to outside agencies. Through individual academic planning, Ms. Proietti and Ms. Uffelman help students appraise their abilities, interests, skills, achievement and supports them in becoming responsible members of society. Social Emotional Learning facilitates the academic, career and social/emotional development of students through small group and classroom activities. The program is based on the developmental stages of children and supports the academic program.
Students are assisted in understanding themselves and others and developing healthy interpersonal skills throughout their school day and in various settings.
