CogAT Testing Information

Arlington Public Schools administers the Cognitive Abilities Test to all fourth graders each school year. This year all ASFS fourth graders were tested during the month of November. The test is divided into three sub-tests: Verbal, Non-Verbal, and Quantitative. Students are introduced to the test and practice question types prior to the testing window; this is so they will be prepared for success on the day of testing.

Student practice materials (PDF files) can be downloaded using these links.

Parents will receive a formal report of their child’s CogAT results about a month following the testing window. A Parent Coffee will be held at ASFS on Tuesday, February 6th; to offer an explanation of the testing results.

CogAT score profiles:

CogAT score profiles help you identify both the level of the student’s scores and the pattern of scores across the batteries. In the short paragraph at the bottom of the test report page, you’ll see an “Ability Profile.” You can use this profile code at the website to receive more information about the CogAT test and your daughter’s or son’s scores.
