Reading

Hello!  I am looking forward my fifth year as reading specialist (half- time) at Arlington Science Focus School!  I love teaching children and helping them find joy in learning.  I taught previously in Fairfax County, where I retired as reading specialist for (twenty years!) at Haycock ES, where I also taught first grade and special education. I taught a graduate reading course at Johns Hopkins, did diagnostic assessments at both a clinic in Boston and a school in San Diego. I taught in both Virginia Beach and outside of Philadelphia. My degrees are from the College of William and Mary and the University of Virginia. My husband Michael and I have three grown children, and five grandchildren! We love to travel and this summer the entire family spent time together in London, England!

Ms. Jackson began her teaching career in 2015 as a Kindergarten teacher at Science Focus. Later, she became a reading specialist and taught at Swanson Middle School. Before returning to Science Focus in 2025, she worked for the University of Virginia’s Virginia Literacy Partnerships. Ms. Jackson is passionate about ensuring all students are supplied with the literacy skills essential to lifelong learning and success! In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her two energetic kids and going on local hikes.

My name is Mrs. Kaiser and I am a reading specialist. I work with students in all grades at Arlington Science Focus. I received my master’s degree in education and reading specialist certification from the University of Virginia. I have been teaching in APS for over 15 years. I live with my husband in Alexandria, VA and have two grown children. I love reading, cooking and spending time with my dog, Joey!
